Bay Shore High School, cont.

* Broke the indoor National Record in the dmr in 2004 by almost 6 seconds, but came in second! 11:42.

* Have run 9:08, 9:08, and 9:04 the last three indoor seasons in the 4 x 800.

* Own the Long Island Records both indoors and outdoors in the 4 x 800, 4 x mile, and dmr.

* National Champ (Laura Cummings) in the indoor Nike 2 mile in 2004.

* Two Penn Relays 3000 meter champions (Jenn Donovan of Half Hollow Hills in 1997) (Laura Cummings in 2004)

* Laura Cummings was a two time Foot Locker Finalist, having placed 4th (best ever by a L.I. runner) in 2002)

* 12 consecutive Suffolk County Championships (xc, winter & spring track four years in a row). Looking to extend that this year!

Summer training:

It is a long year of running in the northeast, since we have a high powered indoor season, to go along with xc and spring track.

Our objective for the summer:

* start easy and gradually build a foundation (base)for the year ahead.

* progression is very important. We would like everyone to gradually add mileage throughout the summer. The runs will include hills, flat trail running, and easy distance on the roads. Starting in August, we will begin some easy intervals starting at 3:00 (800M) or slower. It is a long season! We are getting ready for the end of October and November!

* variety, fun, run with a group, stay healthy by eating right and getting enough sleep.
