PREVIEW - Pre-Meet INTERVIEWS with Ashley Brasovan and Chris Derrick by Scott Bush
Three prep girls were part of the Team USA Junior Women's team while the Junior Men's team is entirely collegians
- Wellington FL sr Ashley Brasovan was 2nd in the USATF Junior Women's race, following her 2nd at Foot Locker Finals in December. She most recently ran 5th at the NIN 2-mile in 10:31.38 and is reportedly coping with an achilles injury
- San Clemente CA sr Alex Dunne was 3rd in the USATF Junior Womens' race, after taking 19th at Foot Locker Finals (but 2nd at FL West). She recently ran close to her 3200 PR with a 10:27.38 2 weeks ago.
- Air Academy CO sr Allie McLaughlin was 4th in the USATF Junior Women's race, following her 5th at Foot Locker Finals. She reportedly did not make the trip.
- Joining the prep trio is USATF Junior champ, collegian Neely Spence, and collegians Sara Vaughn and Emily Pritt.
- Hopes are high for the Team USA Junior Men, as they field a team led by outstanding collegiate freshmen German Fernandez, Chris Derrick, and Luke Puskedra. Fernandez was rumored to be injured, but while he has been dealing with a reported stress reaction in his foot. His coach was quoted as saying he's a little "dinged up" but he is in Jordan and in all likelihood he will toe the line.
