Bio: Coach Steve Chavez, Murrieta Valley
- Beginning 11th season as Head Coach for the Nighthawks boys and girls teams
- Teams have won 14 league titles (7 each) and 12 County Championships (6 each)
- Teams have made it to the State Championships 9 times (5 boys, 4 girls)
- Teams have earned 6 top 5 finishes in the State Champions (3 each)
- Girls team finished 7th in state in 2000, 1st in 2002, 2nd in 2003, and 5th in 2004
- Boys team finished 13th in state in 1999 and 2000, 5th in 2002, 3rd in 2003, and 5th in 2005
- Has coached 4 All-CIF and All-State runners
- Currently has 12 alumni running at the collegiate level (6 in Div-I)
- AAF Lead Instructor since 2003
- Named honor Coach of the Year by the California Coaches Alliance in 2002
- Murrieta Valley has been rated the #1 combined XC program in CA in 2002, 2003, and 2004

- 6 league titles
- 6 county titles
- CIF-Southern Section Champions in 2002
- State Champions in 2002
- 3rd at Great American XC Festival in 2002
- 2nd in CIF and State in 2003
- Briefly held the Woodward Park team time course record in 2002 (before Sultana beat it 2 hours later)
- Has one of the top 5 fastest team times at Mt SAC
- 3 time Sweepstakes winner at the Mt SAC Invitational
- Course record holder at the Woodbridge Invitational (90:01), and Bronco Invitational
- 2-time winner of the Stanford Invitational
