California's latest prep star great efforts AAU Indoor Championships in Indiana! You will not know her from a high school uniform (her school is brand new!) - She peformed at a level that gave her the #2 HS mark in the nation for the 2002-2003 Prep Indoor season!(we won't even tell you the event!) - Get ready for California's next great prep female star (and we already have a few)! - Read on about this frosh athlete who has not even put on her high school uniform yet, but joined a few other Golden Staters at the AAU Indoor Age-Group Championships in late February in Indiana with super results!

Peninsula Athletic League (CCS) - Some good and promising early season marks in this mostly relay affair in the CCS last weekend. Lia Kato (El Camino, South San Francisco) 105-00 in the Girls DT - Evan Anderson (Menlo Atherton) 1:25.9 Boys Var 600m - Ray Hisatake (Westmoor, Daly City) 145-01 Boys DT

Backing up her 12-00 pr from the LA Indoor - Kirsten Loftin 11-07 & 11-00 local PV's!

Santa Cruz Relays - Aptos All-Comers (CCS) - Some fine pole vaulting by Kirsten Loftin (Aptos) 11-00 and 11-07 over a couple day period, with a fine 400 (51.8) and 1600 (4:28.1) double by junior Jacob Evans, last year the state's #3 listed soph 800 runner at 1:55.30, obviously intent on a strong 2003! Casey Nevitt, one of the nation's top 3200 runners for Aptos (10:36.84 last spring) was 11:42.0 in cruising around the school's new facility.

Cal Poly/Pomona Invitational - 3/1/03 - Athletes competing unattached from LB Wilson and Sultana - Unat/Wilson - Mackenzie Hill - 12.43 100m, 14.67 100mh, and 62.95 in the full 400m hurdles, a super effort. Ashley Freeman had a fine 24.94 (200) and 56.70 (400) long sprint double, with Diana Gooden 15.15 100mH. The Teekay TC (LB Wilson) was a quick 46.95 in the 400m Relay and 3:58.70 in the 4x4 event. Stacy Tabuena (frosh at Sultana, Hesperia) had a fine 11:49.92 full 3000m steeplechase effort, with junior Kelsey Delagardelle (Unat/Sultana) 10:27.76 for 3000m on the flat!

San Benito/Hollister Coed Relays - Los Banos Lions T&F Invitational - Pony Express Relays - 3/1/03 - Hosts Hollister take own 10 team affair Saturday with Joel Tosto (Greenfield) 44-00 TJ - Kristina Price (Merced) tops action at Los Banos with 38-09.5 (SP) and fine 136-07 (DT) weight double, both Meet Records - Jessica Pressley (Laguna Creek) great 47-07 (SP) and 135-09 (DT) starts to her 2003 season!

Big Cat Invitational results now complete ! - Santa Rosa JC 3/1/03 - JK Withers (Newman, Santa Rosa) 4:29.5/1600 - Matt Tillinghast (Montgomery, Santa Rosa) 14-0/PV - Whitney Leachman (Elsie Allen, Santa Rosa) 12.2/100m - Phylis Blanchard (Rancho Cotate) 5:18.9/1600 - Kim Conley (Montgomery) 11:14.5/3200

Logan/Mt. Pleasant scrimmage - Logan's stunning 46.6 one-lap relay effort run without 11.83/24.24 star Cheri Craddock (in hoops playoffs right now). Wow! - With frosh Kristina Davis (12.2/100), Logan is ready to run with the nation's elite. Talia Stewart had fine 14.1/45.6 hurdle double, with Kevin Cradock heading boys action with a 14.3/39.9 hurdle double.

Buchanan Distance Festival - Friday 2/28 - Kyle Alcorn (above) with another nice triple - The defending state 3200 champ opens '03 with 2:01/4:27/53 relay split as the host Bears claim victory in 4 of the 8 events!

5th annual Sierra Invitational (above Sac Joaquin) - Under ideal conditions, Turlock and Lincoln (Stockton) were victorious at Modesto JC as 23 schools competed in this USTCA National Series meet. For Turlock's girls, junior Antonia Bethel (100m/15.68) and Dallon Williams (5:26.22/1600 win) led the battle, with junior Danielle St. John (Oakdale) a 5-4 high jump win. Lincoln's Bryan Parker was a 21-4/LJ winner, with Ryan Caris (Oakdale) 15.53/110mHH. Steve Cardinalli (St. Mary's, Stockton) won the 800 (2:00.88), with vault winner Joe Harrison (Riverbank) & Forrest Dyer (Lodi) at 13-6.
