One of the great "event" families in So Cal History
Downey High School's Alex Black (6-08 last year)
6-06 last weekend is the latest in his family to star in the
event over the last decade!!
Coach George Myers with some family history:
Kelly Black: 5' 8" (1994)
Andrew Black: 5' 6", as a part timer-he was a vaulter 13' (1998)
Katie Black: 5' 6" (2004) Now a heptathlete at Cerritos College
Alex Black: 6' 8" -2005 Sr. this year
on the way!! -
Matthew Black 5'4" MS champ now a frosh at Downey!!
All were amazingly consistent jumpers despite an
obvious variety of event facilities - seems no Friday
summary of Thursday area dual action complete without
a "Black from Downey" among the list of High Jumpers!!
