Various district cross country meets

VA district Roundup

Webb, Lockhart and Ruiz
post leading district times

by Virginia HS RunnerWorld

Alan Webb of South Lakes runs 13:57 on the 2.89 mile course at Burke Lake Park in the Concorde District championships breaking the record of 14 minutes, 19 seconds set by Sharif Karie.

Bobby Lockhart of Handly ran a 15:14 at the 5k Great Meadows state championship course, the second fastest time ever, (Alan Webb 15:08 last year), winning by more than a minute.

Bryce Ruiz of Jamestown turned in a 15:26 also the second fastest time ever. The course record of 15:15 was set in 1994 by Lafayette's Seneca Lassiter, (yes the former Arkansas star), in the Peninsula district meet. Interestingly, Lassiter broke the previous course record of 15:26 (the same time as Ruiz) by former Tabb star Howard Townsend, (Footlocker finalist), now Ruiz's coach at Jamestown.
