1999 AA XC runner-up, Andy Weilacher of Eisenhower, is our
favorite for state champ this year, after running a strong third place 9:34 in
the 3200 in the spring.
Team predictions for AA states this year are:
1) York Suburban(with 6 starters coming back) 4th in '99
2) North East( with 6 starters coming back) 3rd in '99
3) Scranton Prep( with 6 starters coming back) 7th in '99
4) Union City(with 4 starters coming back) 8th in '99
5) Greencastle-Antrim(with 5 starters coming back) 5th in '99
6) Tyrone(with 4 starters coming back) 6th in '99
7) Bishop Hafey(with 3 starters coming back) 1st in '99
8) Wyomissing(with 5 starters coming back) 15th in '99
9) Titusville(with 3 starters coming back) 10th in '99
10) St. Pius X(with 2 starters coming back) 2nd in '99

AA star Andrew Diffenderfer of Greencastle-Antrim, leads
during the trial at Spring States. He would win on Saturday with a 4:20.71,
after beginning a long, determined, finishing kick with 300 to go. We have
picked him sixth after his 16th place finish in 1999.

4) Joel Moceri(12, Wyomissing) 5th in '99, 4th in 3200 in 9:34, and 11th in 1600 at States
5) Mike Germana(12, St. Pius X) 15th in '99
