Bob and Ann Rothenberg-Co-Meet Directors-RI.
Bob and Ann have a distinguished career in Track and Field
in Maryland and at Brown. For years they were organizers
and directors of the East Coast Invitational. This week
also was there wedding anniversary: Happy Anniversary to
a lovely couple.

Congratulations Clarke Lowery.
Honorary Referee, Clarke Lowery. Selected as Honorary
Referee for his many years of dedicated service to the sport
of track and field. Lowery began his career as a sprinter
at Providence Central HS and RI College. He was a longtime
coach at Martin Jr. HS in E. Providence and Cranston East
HS. He has made numerous contributions to track and field
as an official at local, national and interntional levels
including 20 years as a starter at Brown meets. He is also
a national authority on officiating meets for disabled athletes.

Pole Vault Officials:Nicole Bullock, Jim Wilcox, Brad
Bowery. Nicole is a former runner who is now a MA certified
track and field official. Jim is a USATF offical who has been
involved with T&F for many seasons. Brad is at Brown and
last year was the New England Intercollegiate Champion in
pole vault..

Singing the National Anthem at
the Opening Ceremonies was Libby Ricardo. Here with
her Mom, Kathy. Libby is a Sophomore who is a cc and
3000 runner - a tiny girl with a big, beautiful voice.

Awards Presenter-Robert Johnson- Brown
Director of Track and Field-Coach Johnson is an accomplished
athlete and an NCAA Coach of the year in 2000.

Awards Presenter John Gregorek -
Brown distance coach for 9 years - 8-time All-American at
Georgetown and a 2-time Olympian in the steeplechase.

Clerk of the Course: Bob Ferrari (center) and
his team Elise vonHousen and Jerry Bonner. Bob checks
in hundreds of athletes very efficiently, while at the same
time making it a fun experience for the athletes. Case in
point is a tradition he established at the Brown Invitational
of giving pizzas to each of the winners of the last heat (slowest)
of the boys and girls relays. Bob is a former runner who competed
at the HS, college and open levels. Now he runs Ferrari Engineering
and gives the Brown Invitational 2 days out of the year.

Jesse Johnson- VA. Jesse has been in
track and field for 39 years. He has been working the Brown
Invitational for many of those years. He became acquainted
with Bob Rothenburg while he and Bob lived and worked track
meets together in Maryland. He now comes up to the meet from
his home in Spotsylvania VA. For many years Jesse worked for
IBM in Chicago and Palo Alto. |
