Ceci St. Geme is a name in running herself. She has an extensive running history starting with her high school 1980 Kinney/Footlocker championship. She then went on to Stanford and was the 1982 NCAA 3000 meter champion and a U.S. 3000 junior recordholder. She was the 1993 USA Cross Country runner-up and the 1994 USA 5000-meter champion. Now, she is a mother of six children including eldest daughter Anne, and still running as a Master. When at a track meet, Ceci is first the assistant coach and then mom. She says Anne handles having a mom who was and still is a champion runner, very well. At home they talk quite a bit about track. "I could not handle it (having a mom with a champion running history) as well as she does" says Ceci, "she's cute about it." |
