    four former athletes in the Trials?

J.W. North HS Coach Charles Leathers has former pupils Nichole Denby, Joanna Hayes,
Chaunte Howard and Cari Soong competing in the Trials. Charles will be a busy man
for the next several days as he checks the schedule and results and follows the troops!


West Valley HS (Cottonwood) - Small School - Big Time Track!

Coach Scott Fairley (above) of Northern Section powerhouse West Valley HS has three athletes at the Olympic Trials - 1991 grad Nicole Teter (800-1500) good Teter Story link; 2000 grads Jeff Billing (Long Jump) and Brooke Meredith (Heptathlon). Jeff Billings State CIF 3rd place finisher in the long jump in 2000 and Division II National Champion in 2003 for UC Davis.  Brooke Meredith was a state meet competitor in the 300LH in 2000, and NCAA Division I National indoor 3rd/outdoor 5th in the Heptathlon for 2004 at UC Berkeley. Small school also has Katie Eckley (Abilene Christian) - 3rd this year's NCAA Div II Pole Vault - Renee Eckley (obviously sister at Azusa Pacific) NAIA Javelin Champion - Pole Vaulters Tyler Gray (Stanford Univeristy) and Chris Wright (Mt. SAC) have continued their collegiate track careers for the Northern Section powerhouse!
