Temperatures rose to 95 degrees by mid-afternoon and smoke from Southern California fires started moving in, so the last 15 races (freshmen, soph and JV) were cancelled. Friday Div 3-4-5: Lindsay Flacks, Dan Nunn, Alex Dunn, Hopi AZHarvard-Westlake sr Lindsay Flacks 17:32 and San Luis Obispo sr Dan Nunn 15:10 (Alex Dunn 15:11) are fastest of the day. Campolindo wins Division 3 Boys Sweeps, and Santa Margarita wins girls. Hopi AZ sweeps Division 4 team titles. Woodcrest Christian girls and Santa Clara boys win Div 5 Sweeps titles. Sweeps races are run on the full course (2.91 miles) as air quality improved during the afternoon. Earlier races were shortened to 2 miles because of the heat, plus the smoke and ash fallout from brush fires that started Thursday night in the Los Angeles basin. Some teams stayed home because of the uncertainties. For Now, Dunn Proves Second to Nunn - DyeStatCal Friday highlights with top 12 individual and team times.

It was HOT at Mt. SAC.
Last 6 days before the meet were 98, 100, 100, 102, 103, 99. Smoke and
ashes from huge brush fires in the Los Angeles basin compounded the problem
Friday, leading meet officials to shorten most Friday afternoon races
to 2 miles. The six Sweepstakes races with the top teams, starting at
4:45 pm Friday, ran the full Mt. SAC Invitational distance (2.91 miles).
The featured Division 1/2 sweepstakes races Saturday ran in mid-morning
with cool temperatures. | Teams | Schedule | Course description with aerial photo | Biggest meet in the country, one of the toughest courses in the country - 16,000 entries last year - 90 races over 2 days - races start 8 minutes apart at the peak, separated by color codes and three finish line computers - elites of California and other states compete in Sweepstakes races.
