Hanna's rain slow times, but Walton boys and Brookwood girls win large school races at Bulldog Stampede at U. of Georgia. Walton sr Kristin Heffelfinger wins again.

Tropical Storm/Hurricane Hanna brought several inches of rain to the area
and made for some relatively slow times, but the best of the best performed
well anyway.

Large School (AAAA/AAAAA)Boys:
Brookwood's second team didn't fair as well this week taking third behind
Walton and Collins Hill. Ashenafi Arega won in 16:12, fastest time of the
day, over #2 in AAAAA, Charlie Dickhaus of Walton.

Large School Girls:
Brookwood improved over last week with 70 points to beat 3 other top 5
teams. Senior Kristin Heffelfinger of Walton continues to roll up big wins
with the day's best time of 19:08. She's never competed in running before
this season and is undefeated in 3 races with 25 seconds over 2 miles her
closest margin of victory.

Small School Boys (A/AA/AAA):
Monroe Area boys put it back together after a rough outing last week to
look like a contender for Westminster in AAA with 64 points. Lawson Yow of
Pace wins in 17:03

Small School Girls:
Georgia Kloss, a 2:09 800m runner, shows that she can run a little Cross
Country taking the win in 20:27. Her team also won with 64 points.

Championship Boys:
Cristan Duvall, state A champion from Wesleyan, takes on an all-star field
and exacts revenge on some who beat him the week before with the day's
fastest time of 16:02. North Gwinnett surprises with the team title.

Championship Girls:
Tara Eneback invades from Auburn, AL with the day's fastest time of 19:29.
Lakeside, AAAAA #1, wins by 10 over rejuvenated powerhouse Westminster from
AAA.

Large School Boys:
Steve Rankin, Hiram, and Chapel Hill Boys (AAAA)

Large School Girls:
Jenny Sims of Etowah, 2:11 800m runner, wins in 19:45. Team champion:
Chapel Hill

Small School Boys:
Charles Slick, Lovett, and Greater Atlanta Christian.
