Sweepstakes Results - Detailed Results

Las Vegas NV sophomore Nikki Peterson enjoyed another successful trip to the LA area. Last month, she won the Woodbridge Invitational over Maryann Pynchon and Liza Pasciuto. Now, she came from behind at the end to beat Clara Horowitz and Kristin Cohoon in a thrilling, see-saw race. What's next month? Foot Locker West regional and a possible trip to Disney World for the diminutive Peterson.

Peterson finishes strong

The top 3 were established early, with Horowitz leading Peterson and Cohoon
through a mile and a half; pictured here after the half mile mark.

Peterson edged in front on Poop Out Hill, but Horowitz rallied to take a 10-meter lead at the 2-mile mark. Peterson closed the gap coming down Reservoir Hill and caught Horowitz as they turned toward the finish chute in the last 200 meters.

Peterson told reporters she had been aiming for Mt. SAC to gauge her readiness for the Foot Locker West regional here December 1. Looks like she's ready.

Cohoon 3rd
