Wichita City League-Kaupan Mt. Carmel's Scott Mitchell (defending 5A state champion) won his second City League title. Mitchell, recovering from a stress fracture that sidelined him for seven months, made a move past early leader Tyson Willoughby (Wichita East) on the last hill to win in 16:23. Ryan Wilson (Wichita Heights) placed second at 16:33, while Willoughby hung on for third at 16:42. Bishop Carroll won the boys title 57-73 over Wichita West.. Wichita East's Caity Burke (12:31) barely held off Bishop Carroll's Kristin Lloyd (12:32) for the girls title. Bishop Carroll's girls (ranked #1 in 5A) won their eighth consecutive City title.

Western Athletic Conference @ Liberal- Great Bend and Liberal (tied for #1 in the latest 5A boys poll) hooked up again in another close duel, Great Bend winning 31-36. Hays (ranked #4 5A) followed with 67. Great Bend's girls won their sixth consecutive league title 29-50 over Dodge City.

East Kansas League @ JCCC, Overland Park- Scott Loftin (Blue Valley North), the state favorite for the 6A state title, ran to a 15:57 victory, triumphing by over a minute over Greg Brouilette (Aquinas). Brouliette led three team-mates into the top eight as Aquinas defeated Blue Valley Northwest 40-62. With 140 athletes, Aquinas is Kansas' biggest team. Kristin Rand (12:10) won the individual title over Elle Pishney (Blue Valley, 12:16), and led her Blue Valley Northwest team to a team title. BVNW, ranked #5 in 6A, scored 36 to defeat three other ranked teams: Aquinas (#7 6A) 42, Bishop Miege (#2 5A) 68, and Blue Valley (#6 6A) 79.

Heart of America @ Carey Park, Hutchison Hutchison Trinity, ranked #1 in 1A boys, swept the Heart of America championships. Maggie Foss led the girls with a 12:41 triumph, while John Palacioz won the boys title at 17:05

Chisholm Trail League Div. I-Buhler's Pam Shelite won the individual title at 12:29, while Andover won the girls title. Maize's Eric Sornson led his boys team to victory with a 17:07 win.

Chisholm Trail League Div II- Sara Sigg won the individual title at 13:18, and led her Andale team to the title, while Ryan Ghaffari (Rose Hill) won the boys at 17:24, and Clearwater won the team title.

I-70 League @ State Hospital Grounds, Topeka-Mark Holcomb led his Topeka High team to their first I-70 title with a 17;07 triumph over the hilly course. Topeka High edged Junction City 57-61. In the girls race, Manhattan's Harper McConnell led her team to a narrow win over Salina South 37-39. McConnell ran 12:28 to defeat Salina South's Heather Rupp (12:37)

Mid-East League-3A powers clashed with #2 Riley County upending #1 Northern Heights 36-39. Justin Johnson (N Heights) pulled away late to a 16:33 win. Erin Mortimer (Riley County) ran to an 11:47 win over Mission Valley's Blair Spencer (12:20) and Northern Height's Amy Van Gundy (12:43) in a battle of 3A contenders. Northern Heights (#2 3A) defeated Mission Valley (#3 3A) 30-47 for the girls title.

North Central Kansas League @ Wamego- Clay Center swept to boys and girls titles, with Joe Moore (Clay Center-16:39) leading his top-ranked 4A team to a 39-50 win over Wamego (#3 4A)and Concordia (62-#4 4A). Kristin Parry (12:43) led the girls team (#2 4A) to a 29-49 win over Concordia(#7 4A).
