  • 5/6 50th Shawnee Mission North Relays - Mission KS
    Distance doubles by Amanda Pape (Olathe South) and Scott Loftin (Blue Valley North), a 1-2-3 Pole Vault sweep from Shawnee Mission East topped by Erin Wessley's 10-1, and a 48.90 400 win from Jahmil Foster (KC Sumner).  Morgan High 5-9.

    Topeka Seaman Relays 4/28: Richard Barber (Topeka High) continues to dominate the state's jumps with victories in the LJ (24-6), TJ (48-9) and HJ (6-10). Scott Loftin (Blue Valley North) dominated the 1600 with a 4:12.7 victory over 6A state cross country champ David Williams (Lawrence) 4:21.1. Joseph Lee (Junction City) was a close third at 4:21.7.  Janelle Wright (Topeka High) also earned a triple victory in the JH (5-7), LJ (17-7) and 100H (14.4). Cate Holston (Topeka Washburn Rural) won a fast 1600 over Shauna Burrell (Topeka Seaman) 5:06.8 to 5:11.8. Sally Curtis (Manhattan) won the 400 in 57.2..
    Shawnee Heights Inv: Darren Sproyles (Olathe North) won a triple victory in the 100 (10.9), 200 (21.7), and 4 x 100 (43.0).

    Thomas Barber of Topeka High had a big double at the Junction City Invitational. He long jumped 24-8.5, and tripled 49-5. He also has a 6-6 high jump for earlier this year.

    Tremendous winds of 30-40mph and wind chills dipping into the single digits really held marks down throughout Kansas this weekend. Lots of meets cancelled or postponed. Better conditions on Saturday, but still pretty cool and breezy.  
    • Daniel Cuellar (Derby) ran a 10.5, 22.0 double at the Wichita Southeast Invitational 4/7/00. Derby won both boys and girls team titles to remain unbeaten this season. 
    • Highlights from the Blue Valley District Relays @ Blue Valley HS 4/8/00:  
      Scott Loftin (Blue Valley North) doubled in the distances with 4:20.9 (1600) and 9:40.4 (3200) victories.  Aaron Paul (Lawrence Free State) pressed Loftin with a 4:22.9  
      Girls PV Jenny Nemeth (SM North) 10-7 over Jackie Brown (BVNW) 10-3  
      Boys HJ Alvea Chambers (SM South) 6-8; Pentathlon: Paul Rundle (Aquinas) 2741 wins the boys, Kelly Malarkey (SM East) 2646 the girls 
      SM South and Lawrence Free State tie for the boys title (109 points) Lawrence Free State (97) wins the girls

    Five State Relays @ Liberal 4/4/00: Liberal dominated KS 5A track during the 1990's, and started the new century in the same manner. Led by Carlos Alsup's victories in the 100, 200, and LJ, Liberal amassed 303 points to outdistance second place Garden City by 195 points. Denita Miller paced the Lady Redskins, winning the HJ, SP, DT, JT. The Liberal scored 296 points for the women's title , leaving Dodge City in second with 84.
    Washburn Rural Invitational @Washburn Rural HS, Topeka KS 3/31/00: No team scores were kept. Manhattan's Julie Curtis opened eyes with a triple win in the 200 (25.32), 100H (14.96) and 300 H (44.7) 
    Newton Invitational @ Newton HS, Newton KS 4/4/00: Wichita Bishop Carroll won the boys title, and McPherson won the girls title. Newton's Dustin Everett won the 100, LJ, and ran on the winning 4 x 100.
