Olathe East Invitational

Jared Wisner (12:57) and Zach Pope (13:04) placed 1-2 over a rugged 2.48 mile course on the Olathe East campus, leading Olathe East to a sixth straight title at the Olathe East Invitational.
North Kansas City placed 3-4-5 to make the team race close, East winning 43-46. Wisner and Pope pulled away on "Man Hill" a 300 yard climb just before the 2 mile mark.
Notre Dame de Sion (ranked #3 in the Missouri 3A poll) defended their girls title by placing four runners in the top five to score 20. Jessie Aisenbrey (ND Sion) edged Tabitha Covey (KC Turner) 11:30 to 11:32 over the tough 3k course. Aisenbrey and Covey pulled away from the pack on "Rippe's Rise" a 400 meter long hill just before the finish. Olathe East edged Turner 64-81 for the runner-up spot.
