Ricky's Double Date
Watauga NC sr Ricky Brookshire (above) is the North
Carolina 
record
holder, so he was a logical foe for Alan Webb in the Nike Golden Mile. But
he had a date for his senior prom with Wendy Phipps (left). Wendy
is also a member of the Watauga track team, so she convinced Ricky to do a
double date -- the Herbster Classic and the Watauga prom. This meant a
tight schedule, so Wendy showed up at the race in her prom dress and carrying
Ricky's tuxedo.
