Returning Athletes - Maryland

Boys

Sprints - Northwestern-PG's Robert Wingate-Robin leads 100, 200; 2nd in 400.
Distance - BCC's Jarrett Van Tine returns in 3200; 800, 1600 are wide open.
Hurdles - Woodlawn's Joel Brown dominates; first in MD last year in 110 and 300 and 19th and 22nd in the US.
Jumps - Richard Stark, Springbrook (14-6 PV) is only returning leader; trio of 6-6 high jumpers move up from 2nd (Greg McCormick MID, Ickey Chuku LAR, Jamar Nolan CHO); LJ, TJ are wide open.
Throws - 98 leaders Tom Miller, Urbana (SP), and Tim Bilmanis, Thomas Stone (DT), both juniors, are commanding leaders to start 1999.

Girls

Sprints - Western leads all three events with fleet Toni Jefferson, Tia Burley.
Distance - Joy Parker (Douglass-PG), Cecily Garber (RMT), Lee McDuff (RVH)
Hurdles - Central senior Lekisha Barnaby rules both roosts
Jumps - Jessica DeFrietas ELR, Pun Chittchang SCA return in LJ, TJ; new leaders in high jump (Michelle Smith GAI), pole vault (KC Allen of Calvert, Natalie Dye MID, and Lori Tvarkunas GLG)
Throws - '98 double leader Meagan Verdeyen, North Hagerstown, returns for senior campaign.
