*More than 5,000 athletes from over 250 high schools in eight states and Washington , DC , will compete in the 12th Annual Citibank Hispanic Games on Saturday, January 7th and Sunday, January 8th. Varsity events will be held Saturday. Competition starts each day at 9 a.m.

 

*The Leaders of Tomorrow Awards will be presented to outstanding high school scholar-athletes at 2 p.m.  The following recipients include:

Janina Browne, AP Randolph, Leticia Nurse, AP Randolph, Sherica Thomas, AP Randolph, Saleena Abdur-Rashed, Bishop Loughlin, Esperanza Blanco, Brentwood, Omar Serrano, Brentwood, Aurys Guzman, Central Islip, Dorothy Jean-Pierre, Clara Barton, Miguel Batiz, Dover, Patrick Collins, Highland Regional, Tiffani Long, Long Beach, Maggie Honard, Marymount, Kerry Ojeda, Middle Country, Rachelle Wright, Potomac, John Lopez, Sheepshead Bay, Jackie Rodriguez, Southampton, Jovonna Gaines, Thomas Edison, Sebastian Perez, Xavier

 

*A number of champions from the Bishop Loughlin Games and Marine Corps Holiday Classic will be competing.

 

*Among the entrants are:

Casey and Scott DiCesare of Irvington (NY). Casey set the New York State record in the Pole Vault at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic at 16-5, breaking the record of 16-2 held by Brian Duggan of Mons . Farrell. At the Marine Corps, Casey teamed with his twin brother Scott, who leaped 15 feet, to win the Pole Vault Relay at 31-5. Scott won the event at the Bishop Loughlin Games at 15 feet. Casey, who is one minute older than Scott, has also entered the 55 Meter Hurdles. Both seniors will be attending UCLA in the fall.

 

*Aislynn Ryan of Warwick Valley (NY) is entered in the Two Mile Run. Ryan won the National High School Cross Country title in 2004 and finished third this year. She will face Lauren Schmidt of Bay Shore , who took the Two Mile at Loughlin in 10:47.38.

 

*Lionel Williams of St. Peter’s has entered the 400 Meters. Last year, he set the national sophomore indoor record and New York State indoor mark for 600 Meters at 1:19.68 at the Archbishop Molloy Stanner Games. He won the 600 this year at Loughlin in 1:21.24, then took the Invitational 800 Meters at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic in 1:54.64.

 

*Bryant McCombs of Old Bridge (NJ), the 2005 National Scholastic Indoor champion at 400 Meters, has entered the 200 Meters. McCombs ran the fastest indoor time ever for a junior in the U.S. and the second fastest in New Jersey history at the nationals when he covered 400 Meters in 47.37. He will attend Texas A&M in the fall.

 

*Dan Lewis of Msgr. Farrell, who took the Two Mile Run at Loughlin (9:29.32), will run the Mile.

 

*Brittany Sheffey of Bellport, who won the 1000 Meters at Loughlin (2:54.39), will compete in the Mile.

 

*Dalilah Muhammad of Benjamin Cardozo, who won the 600 Meters at Loughlin in 1:34.37, is entered in the 200 and 400 Meters at the Citibank Hispanic Games. She won the 55 Meter Hurdles at the PSAL Holiday Games in 8.42 and the High Jump at 5-2.
