Super 8 Invitational

Sheena Johnson destroys Super 8 Invitational at Virginia Tech with four victories.  GarField VA senior won  the 300 meters in 38.69, best in the US this season, and  long jump at 18-7 (US#7), and wrapped up her sensational day by doubling 5 minutes apart in the 55 meter dash (US#5 7.14) and  55 meter hurdles (7.98, 2nd to her own US leading 7.85).  Sheena left out the triple jump, which she won at this meet last year with a 1999 US best mark of 42-4.75.

Centreville VA senior Rickey Harris wins 300 in 33.74 (US#3) but is injured in 55 hurdles and did not finish.  The defending national 400 meter hurdle champion slipped at the start and crashed the last hurdle, dislocating his shoulder.  He was reported later to be sore, but OK.

Weather holds down attendance, but not the performances.  Alan Webb 9:12.7 is best 3200 meter time of the season, dispelling any idea that his withdrawal from the Millrose Games mile next week indicated he was not in shape. Rickey Harris 7.41 and Sheena Johnson 8.15 (Alyssa Aiken 8.16) lead 55m hurdle trials.  Keosha Sanders 7.28 (Johnson 7.29) and Rico Lloyd 6.43 (Harris 6.45) lead 55m dash trials.  Christina Burleson 11:02.57 for 3200m.   India Odum 43-8.5 SP (US#3).
