Georgia Indoor 2002

State Meet Scrubbed

Move of USA Nationals from Georgia Dome causes action

Here is meet director's announcement on www.gatfxc.com:

Dear Georgia High School Track Coaches,

USA Track & Field has moved the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships to the 168th Street Armory in New York City. Therefore, the Georgia High School Indoor Meet at the Georgia Dome will no longer be held. The eight years of the event were very successful and added to the quality of high school track in Georgia. It was an honor to serve as the meet director. I want to thank all of the athletes, coaches and parents who supported the event. There is no information at this time concerning what will be done with the track itself. It is possible it could remain in the area in some capacity.

The GATFXC.COM Coaches' Invitational will be held at Georgia Tech on Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, 2002. The meet will be expanded this year and will allow entries from all schools that want to attend. As meet director, I assure the high quality of meet operations that we had the Georgia Dome will be transferred to this event. All event information will be posted on this site by November 15, 2001. The goal will be to make this a statewide annual event similar to the Georgia Dome meet.

Thank you for support of Georgia High School Track & Field.

Sincerely,
Bill Sheskey
