Championship Time - Six Californians to Nat'ls!!! |
The Foot Locker Nationals will be held December 14th at Morley Field in San Diego's Balboa Park. The course in San Diego used in the past, which we assume will be used once again, is two figure eight loops where the runners leave the start line area, then pass back by three times, and finish in that immediate area on the 5000 meter course, making it possible for even the least mobile fan to see the runners "close up" five times during the two races. The San Diego competitions, held from the early 1980's through the late 1990's, always drew great crowds, with the two races always a ton of fun to watch. From the start/finish area with some binoculars you can view action on the hill area, some 600 meters on the fly from there, with course visibility always drawing big crowds--come join the fun!!! Television Coverage - The 2002 Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships will air on December 19th at 3:00p.m. EST on Fox Sports Net (we believe that is noon Pacific time, but check your TV guide).
