Annual Pasadena Games Meet Flyer! Registration Information! Dear Coaches, Preparations for the 63rd Annual Pasadena Games Invitational are well underway and we are very excited to share the news with you that it appears this year's event promises to be one of the most exciting chapters in the illustrious history of the popular Southland invitational. As of February 1, we already have 31 high schools confirmed to compete, but we'd like to extend an invitation to reserve a spot for your fine program to participate in this year's event as well For your consideration, let's first share with you what is in store for the 2005 Pasadena Games Invitational, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 26 at Pasadena City College's Robinson Stadium: * We are returning to a twilight meet format! In listening to the request of coaches who have supported the meet in the past, we will finish "under the lights" in 2005, with the final two hours of the event being at night. The meet schedule runs from 1:30 to 8:15 p.m. with a very tidy time schedule. * We have expanded our number of events, heats, and entries so that more athletes will have an opportunity to compete! From the addition of the "Pasadena Special" (a 100-100-200-400 medley relay with special awards to the winners) and the 4x800-meter relay, to the addition of an extra heat in most lane events (expanding to four varsity heats per gender), to the increase in the number of entries in the distance races and field events, we are stocking the fields! * We are bringing back the boys' frosh/soph division! We told you we're creating more spots for athletes, and here's another example. We've worked in the 4x100, 4x400, 4x800 and "Pasadena Special" relays, as well as an invitational frosh/soph heat of the 100, 400, 110 high hurdles, and the mile. If possible we will also aim to accommodate top frosh soph individuals in the expanded field events, with flights scheduled so that leading varsity athletes will be grouped separately. * We will be going to online entries this year, so that you can have peace of mind in knowing your entries have been submitted properly for seeding, and spelled properly for inclusion in the souvenir meet program. On-line entries will be handled via EPIsports.com , the same group that will handle the CIF-Southern Section on-line entries from each league Final ino the CIF-SS Divisional Prelims. Additionally, our clerking and timing personnel will be networked this year via Royal Results Timing, so we will have FULL RESULTS FOR ALL COMPETITORS posted for coaches and athletes to view and also will posted online the same evening at www.PasadenaGames.org These results, plus pictures and a recap also will be posted at www.DyeStatCal.com , which will provide on-site media coverage. * We're going to induct a few local legends into the Pasadena Games Invitational "Hall of Fame"! A first-year endeavor, we will have a short 7-minute ceremony just before the start of the featured "Pasadena Special" relays races, honoring local legends Inger Miller, Jerry Proctor, and Skip Robinson. More information on these sensational attendees will be forthcoming. It is our hope to institute a Coaches' "Hall of Fame" dinner starting in 2006. * Our entry fees are remaining low! Just $8 per entry per event, and $25 per relay team. The Pasadena Games Invitational will remain among the most affordable meets on the high school calendar. Additionally, we're going to incorporate a maximum $250 entyr fee cap for those few schools that might be strong enough to bring large contingents. * This track is fast! Others meets make claims, but Pasadena Games athletes make records! In fact, 14 meet records have been established on the Robinson Stadium track facility in just the last five years -- not bad for a prestigious meet with a 62-year history of outstanding performances! * As is the case every year, the Pasadena Games Invitational falls on "Final Four" weekend of the NCAA Basketball Tournament and we know almost everyone out there is a college hoops fan! For that reason, we're going to host a "Courtesy Coaches Lounge" in the grassy "Court of Champions" private area located adjacent to the track, with televisions tuned to the games and complimentary food and drink for coaches. Additionally, each coach that visits the courtesy room will be granted complimentary entry into an NCAA Score Outcome contest, with the winner receiving an award from one of our sponsors. * The atmosphere on meet day will be very festive, with fun musical entertainment for the crowd, track and field vendor booths on display, official meet t-shirts available for purchase, and a snack bar equipped with food, drinks, snacks and souvenir programs for purchase. We anticipate adding a few more fun features in the weeks to come. So... Are you interested? If so, you are not alone! Among the fine programs already committing their involvement for 2005 include Pasadena area powerhouse Muir High School and well as perennial powers Long Beach Wilson, Taft of Woodland Hills, Dorsey of Los Angeles, Loyola of Los Angeles, Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, Royal of Simi Valley, Canyon of Canyon Country, Birmingham of Lake Balboa, Crespi of Encino, and more than 20 other schools. Spots are being claimed quickly and we expect all team slots to be gone by late February, as this mailing reaches schools. If you are interested in reserving a spot, please email us at [email protected] right away and we respond with a confirmation email. Further meet information will be emailed to interested schools on Friday, February 18th. The on-line entry window will be open from Sunday, February 20 to noon on Sunday, March 20. The meet will be seeded based on verified marks on Sunday evening, March 20, with all accepted entries posted online Monday morning, March 21. For more information, view newsworthy tidbits on the meet at www.dyestatcal.com/PasadenaGames.htm Lastly, we anticipate adding one more unique event to this meet, which we believe will be one of the enjoyable highlights of the evening. Details to come! We look forward to your consideration of participating in 2005! Sincerely, Nicolas Colon and John Bianchi (co-meet directors) 2005 Pasadena Games Invitational
