Jestin Blackmon (Oakmont, Roseville) 10.75 and 22.22 so far this
2007 Spring Season signs at CS Fullerton - Blackmon was 4th and 6th
respectively in the 100 and 200 at the Section Finals


Eric Avila (Bonita Vista) San Diego Distance Star - hot off a 9:07
League Meet 3200m performance signs with Northern Arizona
where he will join the traditional Lumberjack distance powerhouse

Ray Green and 6-06 Higher Jumper Ross Tate are heading over to
UC Davis to continue their careers


Igor Seriba (La Jolla), one of the great field eventers from La Jolla HS as a
47 foot Triple Jumper, will continue his career at UC Davis. Here he is pictured

Esperanza's Emily Dunn, one of the nation's top 400-800 runners signs to
do her college racing at BYU - She has run an impressive 2:08.32 so far this spring
for two laps with some good one lap relay splits in the 4x4!


Dondre McDonald (Inglewood), here with Coach Bruce Williams - With 10.58
and 21.22 sprint bests this spring McDonald led the nation for a time at 200 Meters
He was a fine receiver on a 7-3 football squad this Fall and will be attending
Fresno State University to compete in Track & Field only 


Sac Joaquin Section horizonal jump star Natalia Wright (Stagg, Stockton)
will be moving on to compete for the Hornets of Sacramento State University.
Wright had bests of 18-01.5 (LJ) and 38-05.25 (TJ) through early May

San Diego Section distance standout Travis Kuhlman of Westview (4th DII State XC meet --15:21,
1st Arcadia seeded 2 mile -- 9:18) is headed to Long Beach State to join Coach Matt Roe and
his talented distance crew. Travis appreciates the support of his cross-country and distance
coach John Colson (left) and head track coach Tim Medlock.


5-08 High Jumper Rachel Welz (Bear River) will be heading to Sacramento
State University to help out the Hornet program in the field events!


Caitlin Fitzgerald (Highland, Palmdale) Eighteenth Division I in last Fall's State CC Meet
and 17:44 at Mt. SAC in the Mt. SAC Seeded Girls race will head to UC Davis to continue
her schooling and running

Andrew Pilavjian (center) heading to UCSB to run. Pilavjian has run 9:12.16 for 3200m this
spring with all three prominent on the Apache 7th place Division I State X-Country squad.

Dan Aldridge after both signed on with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The
duo have run together since junior high and fueled the continued success
of the Pumas in the North Coast Section and state; they'll continue as a
unit at the very same school where Aldridge once starred as well!

 


Alma Martinez and Luke Galvan of Whittier HS have both made
their collegiate destinations official, with Alma heading to New
Mexico State and Luke opting to stay fairly local at San Jose State!

Dayna Anderson (University City) distance star from SD Section
joins her sister, Riley Booker and the UC group that has relocated to
the Seattle area!!

 


Top San Diego Section star Andrea Jacobs (Vista) will run for the UCSB
Gauchos! Jacobs was the San Diego Section 800 Champ in Track in 2006 at 2:14.57
and was 19th in the State Cross Country Meet Div I this past Fall!

 


Romesha Anderson (Stockdale, Bakersfield)
Central Section 100 Champ and member of two Section title relay squads in 2006
sign with Southern Mississippi where she will be very competitive in the
Conference USA setting!!

 


Christy Adamyk (Glendora) the #4 returnee in the nation over 3200m in track at
10:19.83 has signed with ACC power Duke University.  The California "hot-line" to
the North Carolina school has featured Shannon Rowbury, Clara Horowitz, Anna
Farias-Eisner, Libby Jenke, and Meaghan Leon in recent years. Duke has placed 10th,
3rd, and 2nd the last three years in Division I Women's Cross-Country, with Coach
Jermyn, who we remember as a New York State prep in the early 1990's having built
a super program, with four graduating off the 2006 10th place NCAA group, so Christy
will be asked to "step up!"


Amanda Ross (Christian, El Cajon) has signed to continue her running at Azusa Pacific
University - She has played volleyball, soccer, and run track all four years of high-school, with
a 4.1 GPA . She has 11.92 (100) 24.41 (200) and 56.43 (400m) bests with Section wins
over the 100 and 200 meter distance last spring. She is pictured here with mom, Renee, also
Coach at Christian HS, dad Mike, and Athletic Director for Christian Ken Bailey. 
Mom could do some running also, with 51.33 (400) and 2:02.88 (800) bests at SD State!!


Dayna Hill (Edison, Fresno) - Central Section star with family and
supporters as she signs to go "Pac-10" at UCLA. She joins a great recruiting
class for the Bruins, and adds a wide range of possibilities with her 2006 bests
of 12.49 100, 18-04 LJ, and 38-02 TJ (38-04w).  She was 6th in Central
Section 100, 3rd in the Long Jump, and 2nd in the Triple Jump.


Amanda Lee (Newbury Park) heads a tad to the North to compete for UCSB,
with the Gauchos having former Newbury Park great Jenny Kenyon as an
Assistant Coach currently. Lee is a great all-around Heptathlon prospect, with
15.15 (100H) and 45.24 (300H), and 5-4 (HJ) bests - Jenny here is pictured

Renisha Robinson (Mitty, San Jose) with Coaches Dina Oakland and Mark Frise
Robinson has had a great CCS career in the Fall and Spring with as impressive a
range as any athlete in the state betwen 400 and 5000 meters. She was seventh in
the 2006 State Track Meet over 800m with a 2:11.20 best. She is a great signee
for the Hornets!!


Tara Erdmann (Flowing Wells, Tucson, Arizona) neighboring State Champion
in both Cross-Country and Track and Field has signed to join the improved
distance program at Loyola Marymount for Coach Scott Guerrero. Erdmann
will join Conference Champion and NCAA Division I Finalist Laura Mickelson
at the Westchester-based school.  Tara recorded a 5:03.46 for the mile last year
in finishing second in the April Arcadia Invitational seeded race, and had a
3200 best in 2006 of 11:13.81 and was second in the State 5A contest.
 



Ashley Menzies, a senior at Beverly Hills HS,has signed a Letter of Intent to accept a scholarship
from Stanford University. Menzies has won the Ocean League girls' 200 and 400 meter championships
in each of her three years with Beverly Hills High School. She finished her junior year ranked in the Top 20
in the 400 meters in the state and is nationally ranked in the Nation in the 400 meters. Ashley has run
25.3 in the 200 meters and 55.98 in the 400 meters. Ashley is a two sport athlete (She is a starting
defender on the Girls Varsity Soccer Team). She currently holds a 4.1 grade point average and is a
National Honor Roll Student. Menzies is part of what Stanford Director of Track & Field Edrick Floreal,
in his ninth season with the Cardinal program, called "our best and most complete recruiting class ever".


Jeff MacKay (left) anc Chris Cattern of Chino Hills HS have decided to take
their distance-running talents up the 57 Freeway to Cal State Fullerton!
Jeff, a member of two Sierra League championship XC teams, finished 10th
in CIF-SS D1 last year. Chris, whose parents both attended CSUF, is also
a member of two league-winning XC teams and has been in three CIF-SS Finals!



Chelsea Reilly, a key performer in Coach Bill Gregg's outstanding
distance program at Davis HS this fall, has decided she'll remain in
Northern California and will attend a fine UC Berkeley program also
regarded among the elite academic institutions in the entire nation!

Pair of state distance champions head to UCLA!
Two-time 3200m state champion Michael Cybulski (left front) of Royal and
800m state champion Cory Primm of Westlake have committed to be Bruins!
Both Cybulski and Primm cited the excellent atmosphere on campus and
the sensational Bruins track and field program as key reasons for their
decisions. Cybulski will also next year join a fast-rising men's cross-country
program that has qualified for nationals this year! Primm will focus specifically
on track and field and is very excited about heading to "Bruin-ville" next fall!

All-around track and field talent Terry Prentice has decided to take his
versatility to Los Angeles and compete for Coach Ron Allice's USC Trojans!
Terry, nationally regarded in the long jump and the hurdles, is one of
America's premier all-time pentathletes during the indoor season.



Aliso Niguel's Haley Lawrence, who dazzled a packed house at Cerritos College
to win the 800m state title in track last spring, has decided it's time to leave
"The O.C." as she will attend Northern Arizona University next fall!




Super weights performer Jake Fuller (DT/SP) of West Valley HS in Cottonwood
has decided to remain in state and stay in NorCal as he pens to attend UC Davis!
Jake chose UC Davis over both Notre Dame and Stanford. New full-time Aggies
throws coach Tim Fua, is building a great throws program at UC Davis, which officially
becomes an NCAA Division I school in the Big West starting in 2007-2008. Jake finished
5th at the state meet last spring and looks forward to competing for the discus title
this coming spring. Jake and his Dad (his throws coach) are pictured above.



Major congratulations are in order for Mt. Eden HS sprinter Cherrelle Garrett,
who becomes the first athlete in school history to be awarded a full athletic scholarship!
Cherrelle will be attending classes at UC Berkeley and competing for Coach Chris Huffins!

Davis High's Lauren Guerrieri, among the top throwers on the West Coast,
will be joining the excellent weights program at USC. Coach Ron Allice and
his staff continue to attract top-flight athletes as they challenge for yet
another NCAA Championship! As they say on campus, "Fight On!"



Andy Sullivan, the #2 pole vault returnee in California and the lead performer from
the fine Rancho Bernardo program (San Diego Section) signs on to attend Cal State
Fullerton. Pictured with him is coach Tom Martin. Andy won the SDS Division I
title last year but missed the state meet to be the best man at his brother's wedding!


Alex Kosinski, who put together among the finest distance seasons in
Sac-Joaquin Section history last Fall, will head northward to compete
for the Ducks at the Unviersity of Oregon. Alex, who had been sidelined
for much of this season due to injury, recently returned in quick fashion!

Nevin Gutierrez, who came on so well last spring to emeger as one of the
nation's premier sprinters while at JW North HS in Riverside, is the
latest big-time signee for Coach Art Venegas' powerful UCLA program!


Erin Griffith, pictured here with proud coach Ken Sayles, is from the
very successful Capistrano Valley HS program and will remain in
Orange County as she has decided to attend Cal State Fullerton! Griffith,
among Orange County's top runners, seeks to qualify for state this month!

 


Yuiba City senior Brad Doering, who has evolved into one of the better
distance runners in the Sac-Joaquin Section, has opted to cross state lines
and will attend the University of Nebraska! Brad will vie for D1 all-state honors!

   
Buchanan High's Lauren Saylor, one of the finest distance runners in Central Section history, will be
joining good friend Marie "Mel" Lawrence of Reno HS in the successful University of Washington
program. Saylor will be gunning for the Division i individual title later this month! Pictured at right,
Twentynine Palms HS weight superstar Trevor Kraychir has decided to attend Boise State! Trevor is
among the nation's premier hammer throwers and is the latest in an accomplished family of throwers!

Notre Dame of Sherman sprint specialist Christopher Barton signs with University of Iowa.
Pictured here with his parents Don and Kathy, Christopher ran 3rd in the 400 at the
California State Meet and was anchor of the 2006 State Championship 4x1 team.
Christopher was also recruited by USC, UCLA, ASU, Cal, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
Christopher joins first year coach, World Champion in the 1600 meter relay and silver medalist
in the 400 meter hurdles, Joey Woody, to help build the program at University of Iowa.


Oak Park's Aubree Stark (right) will attend UCLA on scholarship this fall.
Stark who holds many league and meet record in her career, was able to
take part in the event when head coach Kevin Smith (at left) brought
the event back to the school. Smith is a UCLA graduate.

   
Dantia Hudson, left, of Skyline HS is the latest in a long line of talented athletes from
the Oakland Section. Dantia will be staying fairly local while attending UC Berkeley!
Hilary Fraser of El Toro HS in Orange County is one of the top throwers in America
and she'll be taking her talents to Colorado State University next Fall!



Latisha Holden, the precocious young hurdler from Barstow HS,
has decided to leave the state but remain in familiar territory
as she signs with the University of Arizona in the Pac-10 Conference!


Robbie Knorr of Valley Christian in Dublin is one of the top distance runners
in California despite competing in one of the smaller divisions! Knorr, the
Stanford Invitational champion, has decided to attend Baylor Unviersity in Texas!


Kristabel Doebel-Hickok, who has been blazing
across the trails for Palisades HS and will challenge
for the L.A. City Section title, will attend Vanderbilt!


Saugus High's Shannon Murakami ended her junior season as the No. 4 800m runner in CA
with a top time of 2:10.03. Her 1500m time (4:25.2) and 1600m time (4:43.04) both ranked
her fifth in CA last season. At the CA State Meet in 2006, Murakami finished third in the 1600m.
She is the leader of this year's highly successful Division I cross-country powerhouse!
