Happy Birthday

The Mile

Each year, Nike awards the Coach Bowerman Trophy to the coach of the Nike Indoor Championships Mile Boy/Girl Winners. Since Bobby Curtis has won the Nike Mile for the past three years, Coach Medley now has three trophies. But this year he graciously gave the trophy to Bobby's Mom, Barbara.

We'll be seeing a lot of her. Sarah's Grandparents, especially her Granddad, follow her running using the Internet. They decided to come down from Pennsylvania to see her run in person at the NIC. What a great race she ran.

1st Candice Davis-MI Candice with her Mom, Robin. A sweet pair that was absolutely thrilled with the win.

1st Katya Kostetskaya-AR with her Mom, Olga Dbirna and her coach Tatiana Bell. Katya ran a smooth race, well ahead of the others. Katya seems to have inherited her mother's genes for running that is reinforced by coaching from Tatiana Bell. Olga Dbirna was a European Champion in the 1500 and Coach Bell was a champion in the hurdles.

1st Tommy Skipper-OR won the pole vault with a jump of 17-03.75 and then went on to dramatically end the vault by breaking his pole and his thumb.

Meghan, an accomplished thrower in high school, was a team mate with Natalie on the University of Maryland Track Team. Natalie, of course is the daughter of John and Donna Dye and pole vaulter extrodaire.
