Boys

SO#1/US#18 Corpus Christi King TX, SO#2/US#20 Flower Mound TX, SO#3 Del Rio TX, SO#4 Southlake Carroll TX, SO#5 Cinco Ranch TX, SO#6 A&M Consolidated TX, SO#7 The Woodlands TX, and SO#8 Cedar Park TX met in the Texas State 5A championship.  The score through 5 boys was 71-71 with King getting their 1st state title as 6th man Ryan Quezada beat Flower Mound’s 6th.  In a 2-man duel the individual title went to A&M Consolidated jr Duncan Phillips (#4 state returner, 4:10/9:18 as a soph) in 15:19 for the 5000m course with a strong kick over the final 100m.  Southlake Carroll soph Colby Lowe (30th at NTN as a frosh) finished 2nd in 15:21 after leading until about 300m to go and then retaking the lead with 200m left.  Cinco Ranch sr Joe Sauvageau captured a surprising bronze in 15:40 nipping Boswell sr Jared McNeil at the line.  Corpus Christi King was led by sr T.K. Revis in 7th and Flower Mound by sr J.B. Lagos in 5th.

SO#9 Tupelo MS - Regular season complete.  Won the Mississippi 5A State Championship on 11/5.

SO#10 Boerne TX finished 2nd in the Texas 4A State meet to Ft Worth North Side 62-94. (See Results Above)

Brother Martin LA - won the Baton Rouge Metro Championships 60-86 over runner-up Catholic LA.  Episcopal took the bronze with 106 followed by St Michaels with 129.

The Arkansas-Oklahoma All-Stars Meet - brings together the top runners from each state.  In the unique 10-runner scoring, Oklahoma was victorius 73-146 over neighboring Arkansas.  Mustang OK jr Kevin Schwab remained undefeated with a 15:21 effort for 5000m on the University of Arkansas course.

Girls

The Texas 5A State Championship was loaded with SO#1/US#8 Southlake Carroll, SO#2/US#12 Kingwood TX, SO#3/US#19 The Woodlands TX, SO#4 Cinco Ranch TX, SO#5 Marcus TX, SO#7 Clear Lake TX and SO#8 Belton TX.  Southlake Carroll struck gold with 47 points led by the 1-3 finish of sr Brooke Upshaw (state #1 returner, NTN 11th, Foot Locker finalist, 4:53/10:38 PRs) in 10:46 for 3200m and sr Miranda Walker (state #2 returner, NTN 14th, Foot Locker finalist, 4:53/10:32 PRs) in 10:59.  Kingwood was a strong 2nd with 56 points in a reversal of last year’s top 2 spots.  Both team’s are re-invited to the Nike Team Nationals.  Westfield jr Nichole Jones (state champ in 2003, 4:49/10:32 track PRs) pushed the early pace as expected and held on for 2nd in 10:54.  Keller sr Carlene Mayfield, another Foot Locker finalist, was 4th in 10:59.

SO #6 Tupelo MS - Regular season complete.  Won the Mississippi 5A State Championship on 11/5.

SO#9 Ruston LA captured the District trophy with 19 points over West Monroe LA with 52.  Coach Todd Boddie commented, “The District meet went well, we’re running very strong right now as a team.  As for State (on Tuesday, 11/15) Barbe High School, out of Lake Charles, looks very strong as a team. This should make for a great state meet.”

St Michaels LA - took the team title at the Baton Rouge Metro Championships 60-61-63 in a squeaker over runner-up Episcopal and 3rd place St Josephs.

The Arkansas-Oklahoma All-Stars Meet - features the top runners from each state.  In the 10-runner scoring system, Oklahoma won a close one 93-105 over bordering Arkansas.  Mustang Ok jr Kevin the University of Arkansas course.  Kristen Radcliff of tiny 1A Forgan OK took individual honors in 14:43 over 4000m followed by Gravette AR sr Melissa Pollreis in 14:54.
