SO#1 The Woodlands TX boys and Ruston LA girls win Chili Pepper. Kingwood sweeps Lufkin. Carroll Southlake girls and Flower Mound boys win Rick Neill.

The big meets this weekend included:

  • Lufkin (TX) Coke Classic -- Kingwood TX sweeps with SO#1 US#8 girls scoring 21 points and SO#5 boys 19. Kingwood frosh Megan Munoz and sr Chad Johnson win individual crowns.
  • Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas -- hosts some top teams from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri and Texas. US#3 SO#1 The Woodlands TX boys total 28 to win while Ruston LA girls capture the team title with 38. Mustang OK soph Kevin Schwab runs impressive course record.
  • Rick Neill Memorial in Lewisville, Texas -- 1-2 duo of Miranda Walker and Brooke Upshaw lead US#17 SO#2 Carroll Southlake TX girls again. SO#4 Highland Park DallasTX girls capture another division. US#25 SO#2 Flower Mound TX boys beat SO#7 Carroll Southlake. Plano sr Scott MacPherson runs 14:46 to keep his unbeaten streak alive.

BOYS

SO#1 The Woodlands TX
traveled to Arkansas to face some top teams from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri and Texas at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. The Woodlands scored 28 with a 1-2-5-9-11 team finish. Potosi MO was the nearest pursuer with 97 followed by two previously ranked teams - Rogers AR with 133 and Edmond Memorial with 134. Texas 4A #1 ranked Lockhart was 5th with 184 to edge the Woodlands B team. Mustang OK soph Kevin Schwab, running individually, crushed the course record with a fine 14:44. The Woodlands was led by sr Ben Schulz, 2nd overall, and jr Daniel Gerber in 3rd.

The Woodlands is not racing this week. They will run their annual inter-squad 3200 on the track Friday night.

hosted the James Giese Invite and took 1st with 32 over runner-up Humble TX with 78 and 3rd place Klein Oak TX with 110. A&M’s 1-5 split was 52 seconds. Not racing this week, but will run inter-squad 3200 on the track.

#9 King Corpus Christi TX
took the team title at the Hays Invite. They changed their schedule and went to this meet in hopes of facing a top 10 South team for the 1st time in #3 Cedar Park. Unfortunately Cedar Park had decided to rest their A team this week. King jr Ari Perez continues to impress with his win here. Will run District meet this Saturday.

This meet marked the return of sr Brittney Alberto (2:16/5:03, state 11th, #9 state & #12 Foot Locker South returner). Will not compete this week.
