All four of the USA's mens 1500 runners advance to the semi final including Tully HS (NY) grad Lopez Lomong
All four of the USA's 100 meter men will move onto tomorrow's semi final and hope to make it through to the final also held tomorrow
Amy Yoder Begley sets a PR 31:13.74 to place 6th in the 10,000 final. Shalane Flanagan was 14th and Katie McGregor 17th

Day 2 (Aug 16)
AM Session
All of the women's 100 meter runners and 800 runners advance. National Champion Carmelita Jeter won her heat in 11.22. Geena Gall has the best Amercan time in getting 2nd in heat 1 - 2:02.63.
Defending champ and Olympic Silver medal winner Janeth Jepkoski(Kenya) got tripped and went down with just 150m to go in heat 1 and may not advance
Michelle Carter heads to tonight's shot put final after throwning 59' 4.75"
Rachel Yurkovich advances to the javelin final with a throw of 195' 5"
PM Session
Tyson Gay sets a new American Record of 9.71, but loses to a new WORLD RECORDof 9.58 by Usain Bolt
Sanya Richards and Debbie Dunn move onto the 400 final. Dunn breaks 50 in running a PB 49.95
Kerron Clement and Bershawn Jackson each win their semi final and will advance to the 400 IH final. Angelo Taylor was originally scheduled to be in the semi finals due to a DQ in the opening round of an Australian runner, but the Aussie was put back in, bumping Taylor.
Michelle Carter throws 62'2.5" to place 6th in an exciting shot final.
Sharon Day and Diana Pickler end the two-day heptathlon in 9th and 10th
Day 3 (Aug 17 - Only a PM session today)
Lashinda Demus leads all qualifiers for the semi final of the 400 IH with a 54.66. Tiffany Williams and Sheena Tosta also advance.
Chelsea Johnson ties for 2nd place with a jump of 15'3" World Record holder Elena Isinbaeva no heights!

Dathan Ritzenhein runs a personal best 27:22.28 to place 6th on the 10,000. National Champion Galen Rupp was just 2 places behind in 27:37.99.
In the final event of the night Carmelita Jeter gets 3rd in the 100 in 10.90
Day 4 (Aug 18)
AM Session
Amy Acuff and Chaunte Howard Lowe adavnce to the high jump final
Shawn Crawford posts the fastest time in the opening round of the 200 with a 20.60. Wallace Spearman and Charles Clark also adnavce to the 2nd round. Defending champ Tyson Gay does not go to the starting line in his race with some slight soreness still from the 100 final
Casey Malone and Jarred Rome will both be in the discus final
Lionel Larry, LaShawn Merritt, and Jeremy Warnier all advance in the 400. One time USA Prep star and US Olympian Alvin Harrison is now running for the Dominican Republic but did not advance.
In the final event of the morning Anna Willard and Christin Wurth-Thomas both moved into the 1500 semi final

Sanya Richards wins the GOLD MEDAL in the fastest time in the world for 2009 - 49.00. Debbie Dunn finished 6th having to fight the difficult lane 1

Day 5 (Aug 19)
AM Session
Olympic Champ Stephanie Brown Trafton and Aretha Thurmond advance to the finals of the discus
Liverpool HS (NY) alum Jen Rhines - 15:20.20 - advances to the finals of the 5000m North Hunterdon HS (NJ) and Rutgers U grad Jullie Culley just misses advancing - 15:32.33
Terrence Trammell and David Payne both advance to the 2nd round of the 110 HH
Decathlon gets it start today and after the 1st event the 100 Trey Hardee leads. Ashton Eaton takes over the elad after the long jump with Hardee in 2nd overall
PM Session
Trey Hardee ends day 1 in the decathlon in 3rd place 44 points out of 1st. NCAA Champ Ashton Eaton in 5th and Jake Arnold 27th
Jeremy Wariner and LaShawn Merritt each advanced to the final of the 400 in what will be a re-match of last years Olympic final
All three Americans, Shawn Crawford, Wallance Spearman, and Charles Clark, advance to the finals of the 200 where will once again face Usain Bolt.
2 time 200 meter World Champion Allyson Felix along with ChaRonda Williams, Muna Lee and Marshevet Hooker all advance to the 2nd round in the 200
In the event that produced the loudest crowd response (even bigger than the 100) where Robert Harting of Germany set a personal best on his last throw in the discus final to go from 2nd to WORLD CHAMP - Americans Casey Malone would finish 5th and Jarred Rome 11th
Defending World Champ Bernard Lagat fought his way up to 3rd at the line with team mates Lopez Loming 8th and Leonel Manzano 12th in the 1500 final
Virginia Powell and Dawn Harper finish 6th and 7th in the 100 meter hurdle final
Day 6 (Aug 20) - Last day of morning sessions at the track
AM Session
After the 110 HH Trey Hardee moves into the lead of the decathlon after running 13.86. After the 7th event the discus, Hardee still leads headed to one of strongest evnets the pole vault
Derek Mills is the only American that will be in the pole vault final. Olympic Champ Steve Hooker (Austrailia) who tore a thigh muscle in training right before the start of these championships took just one jump which was good enough to advance him to the final, but he was in obvious pain after landing in the pit.
Nick Symmonds wins his heat to earn a spot in the semi final of the 800. Khadevis Robinson ran a smart well placed race to finish 3rd in his heat to earn an automatic spot in the 800 semi final
PM Session
Amber Campbell and Jessica Cosby advance to the finals of the hammer
Dwight Phillips has a fast day just taking 1 jump to make the long jump final. Brian Johnson will also be part of the final
Matt Tegenkamp, Bernard Lagat and Chris Solinsky all advance to Sunday's 5000 final
Blanka Vlasic (Croatia) wins a great high jump competition. Americans Chaunte Howard Lowe and Amy Acuff finish 7th and 12th
Two time defending 200 meter champ Allyson Felix will get a chance to go for #3 as she advances to the final along with Muna Lee

Day 7 (Aug 21 )
Sean Furey advances to the javelin final

US men's 4 x 100 team win thier heat, but are DQ'd for passing before the zone
Texas Alum Andra Manson and Keith Moffitt place 9th and 11th in the high jump final
Christin Wurth-Thomas runs at the front of her semi final and moves onto the 1500 final. Anna Willard and Shannon Rowbury will also be in Sunday's final
Nick Symmonds jumps to the lead when leader Abubaker Kaki goes down in the 1st 800 meter semi. Symmonds wins his heat to move onto the final
Aretha Thurmond and Stephanie Brown Trafton finish 10th and 12th in the discus final
Allyson Felix wins her 3rd straight 20 meter world title and team mate Muna Lee gets 4th
LaShawn Merritt runs the wolrds best time in 2009 to win the 400 meter gold with Jeremy Wariner getting 2nd
Day 8 (Aug 22)
The men's marathon started at 11:45am with 65 degree tempatures and rose just 5 degrees by the finish. Winner Abel Kiruri (Kenya) overcame stomach discomfort in the last 600 meters (he threw up twice in mid stride) to set a new Championship record of 2:06.54. West Point (NY) alumno Dan Browne was the top US finisher in 24th place in 2:16.49 with team mates Matt Gabrielson next at 36th place in 2:18.41 and Nate Jenkins 63rd in 2:32.16. The US team would finish 13th in the team scoring of the Wolrd Cup behind the winning Kenya squad.
Dwight Phillips grabbed the lead on his first a attempt in the long jump of the evening and was never passed. On his second attempt he would jump 28' 0.25" for his best jump of the night. The second American in the field Brian Johnson would finish 9th
The US women's 4 x 100 dropped the stick for the 2nd major championship and did not advance to the final
The US men's 4 x 400 team broke the streak of bad luck winning thier heat and moving on to the final. The women coasted into the finish with a win in their heat after AP Randolph (NY) alum Natasha Hastings blew the race open for the USA on the 2nd lag .
Jessica Cosby finished 7th and Amber Campbell 11th in the hammer final behind a new World Record by Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland
Liverpool HS (NY) alum Jen Rhines finishes 9th in the 5000 final after hanging with the lead pack for over half the race.
Day 9 (Aug 23)
The women's marathon started 30 minutes earlier than then men's did yesterday, but the tempatures were a few decrees hotter. Kara Goucher was within a second or two of the leaders through the 25km point and then dropped back to 7 seconds behind at 30km and 1:43 behind at 35km. Goucher would go on to finish in 10th in 2:27.48. Right behind her in a new personal best was Desiree Davila crossing in 11th on 2:27.53. Rounding out the American team were Tera Moody in 28th place (2:36.39), Paige Higgins in 30th (2:37.11) and Zoila Gomez (51st) in 2:42.49. The team would end up 5th in the World Cup team scoring.
Brittney Reese jumps a world leading 23' 3.5" to win the gold medal. Brianna Glenn would get 9th place with a jump of 21' 7.5"
Sean Furey would end up 12th in the javelin final
Benard Lagat could just not get past Kenenisa Bekele to get 2nd. Matt Tegenkamp would end up 8th and Chris Solinsky 12th.
Shannon Rowbury crossed the finish line in 4th, but Natalia Rodriquez who crossed the line 1st would be DQ'd for pushing her way through with 200 meters to go knocking leader Gelete Burka to the ground. Rowbury would move up to the bronze medal position
Nick Symmonds ran an aggressive race instead of trying to hang back and kick and finished 6th in the 800 final.
The USA would sweep the two 4 x 400 relays to end the meet. The second legs by Allyson Felix and Jeremy Wariner (43.6) would break the races wide open. Sanya Richards ran the fastest 400 split in World Championship history, 48.43, to anchor the US women's team to gold.
