Shana Cox
Holy Trinity, Hicksville NY, jr

The Mondo banks of the
New York Armory are conducive to sprint speed, and
Shana Cox has taken advantage more than anyone this
season. Her opening shot was a 38.00 300 meters, 3rd
fastest ever in the US, in the Bishop Loughlin Games
in December. Next was a 23.85 200 last Saturday in
the Hispanic Games, overpowering a strong field as
the 9th fastest girl ever for 200 meters indoors and
0.
Shana went to the Olympic
Development camp in California last summer, and she
give the camp credit for improving her start. This
was evident in the Hispanic 200, when Cox in lane
5 made up the lane 6 stagger of Natasha Hastings before
the middle of the backstretch.
She finished an amazing 0.63 ahead of the US#2 time
of Hastings, who broke Marion Jones indoor 200 record
for a freshman last year.
