2002 Indoor Track & Field

Nike Athlete of the Week
presented by DyeStat

Week 1 - December 27, 2001

Stacey Ann Livingston
Boys & Girls NY

Livingston, star of Boys & Girls' record setting relay teams last year, broke New York Armory and New York State records at three distances in the opening days of the indoor season at the Armory. 1500m: 4:42.82 on Dec. 9
1000m: 2:50.37 on Dec 15
600m: 1:30.20 on Dec. 22
The 600 is the best all time or 2nd to Robin Campbell's 1:30.1 hand timed in 1974, depending on how the statisticians rule. The 1000 is US#8 all time.
Stacey Ann has owned the fast banks of the Armory at middle distances since the start of last year's season, but she also went outdoors to win the Golden West 800 in 2:07.41, fastest in the US in 2001.

I-Perfection Harris
Poly Prep NY

Fresh off a great football season as running back for nationally ranked Poly Prep of Brooklyn, Harris opened his senior track season with a bang -- a 24-8 long jump Dec. 12 in the Ivy League meet, a New York Armory record, almost a foot over his indoor best last year and 6 inches over his outdoor best. Then, in the Bishop Loughlin Games Dec. 15, Harris doubled for the second straight year -- 24-0.5 and 46-4.

I-P won four indoor meets at the Armory last year and won the Penn Relays and Golden West long jump outdoors.

The Nike Athlete of the Week will be presented for 11 weeks through March 7. The weekly winners will be honored in a ceremony at the Nike Indoor Classic at Landover MD on March 9.
