Recall spoils record assault; Bershawn Jackson wins easily

A expected Florida-Texas assault on the national record fizzled when the race was recalled after the runners were already into the turn. The automatic timing system missed the start and the recall pistol was not heard initially by the runners. Although meet officials let the runners rest nearly an hour by delaying the re-run until after the 200s and the Mile Runs, it seemed anti-climactic. 2001 national champion and 2002 US#1 Bershawn Jackson held up his end of the bargain by running 35.66, faster than all but three other hurdlers and himself in the all-time list, even though he crashed two hurdles in the stretch. But Kerron Clement, whose 35.78 in the Texas 5A state meet took down Jackson's junior class record, was never in the race (37.04) and was passed by another Texan, Terry Beard 37.01, for second.

almost a dead heat of Ashlees: Ashlee Brown CA 42.36, Ashlee Williams TX 42.37,
with Christina Smith PA also at 42.37

It's good the automatic timing worked on this race, because three runners were within 0.01 second and a fourth was only 0.03 further back.
