Akilah Vargas, PSAL indoor 1500/3000 champ last year for Boys and
Girls high school, ran a nice strategic race, hanging with the leaders
for 7 laps and then making her move at the start of the bell lap
to win in 5:13.02, just under 4 seconds ahead of Chelsea Corr of
Columbia NY. Corr ended fourth overall as Jenn Campbell, Farmingdale,
and Laura Cummings, Bay Shore, beat her time in other sections.
