Andrew Keating, of Mt. St. Charles of Woonsocket RI, did his best
to steal the race. Grabbing a 30-meter lead at the outset, he maintained
it through 11 of the 15 laps, touring 800 meters in 2:21 and 1600
meters in 4:47. But his splits started to slip after that and on
lap 12 he was passed quickly by Bishop Hendricken RI jr David Murphy.
In the end, Murphy's teammate Andrew Woodman also passed Keating
to give Bishop Hendricken a 1-2 finish. Murphy and Woodman collapsed
in a heap against the plexiglass-encased Brown University top 10
performers display.
1. Murphy 7:56, 2. Woodman 8:31, 3. Keating 9:03.
