Girls pole vault, a recent addition to most high school programs,
keeps getting better. It was only added to the Brown meet 3 years
ago and the winning marks have been 9-0, 8-6, and 12-8. The 12-8
last year was by Molly Lederman, New Jewish HS, Waltham MA, and
she returned to defend her title and raise the meet record one inch.
It was the best vault of the young indoor season in the US, breaking
a tie at 12-8.75 with Samantha Shepard, Molly's training mate in
Jeff Robbins' Air Time Athletics club. Lederman's win celebrates
her decision this week to attend Yale University next year.
