Sara Bei 2001
Montgomery Santa Rosa CA

Sara's dazzling year fulfilled the promise of her freshman year, with thrilling stretch wins at Foot Locker Cross Country finals in Florida and the Millrose Games mile in New York, and climaxing with another California title at 3200 meters over Anita Siraki, who went on to win the AOC nationals. Just missed a senior distance double to match her freshman distance double at the California state meet when Alejandra Barrientos outkicked her in the mile.

Anita Siraki 2001
Hoover Glendale CA

Except for Sara Bei, Anita would have had a sensational triple: Foot Locker Cross Country, California State Meet, and AOC nationals. Bei caught her in the stretch in the closest FLCCC final ever and did the same thing in the California 3200 final in June. Then, 2 weeks later, Siraki wrapped up her prep career by winning her second straight AOC national 2-mile championship in the fastest time of the year and US#2 3000 meters en route.. Siraki also had the 5th best mile time of 2001 and was California Div 1 cross country champion, with a Mt. SAC cross country course record earlier.
