Jenna Timinsky had not beaten Julie Allen before and she tried something different -- running back in the pack for the first mile and coming on strong late. "I was nervous because I'm not used to playing off other runners; usually they play off of me. We (Julie and Jenna) were neck and neck up Poop Out Hill," Timinsky said. Jenna passed Julie on the back of Reservoir Hill near the 2-mile mark.

Now Timinsky will turn to the California State Meet next month and the Foot Locker West regional December 1 at Mt. SAC with confidence that she has a chance to qualify for the national finals in Orlando December 8. "That's my dream," Timinsky said. She has been a minute faster than last year in all her races this year, so it may be a more than a dream.

Sacred Heart Cathedral, San Francisco teammates Shannon Rowbury (left) and Michelle Gallagher were 3rd and 4th

Freshman Stephanie Hamilton was 5th, the first finisher for San Lorenzo Valley, which is rebuilding rapidly under coach Rob Collins after the graduation loss of California state mile champion Alejandra Barrientos, now running for UCLA. Collins said Ale's younger sister Raquel will return from injury next race.
