Boys & Girls NY sets new national girls 4x800 meter relay record of 8:52.84 (was 8:54.88 by Columbia NJ 1997), even though finishing 2nd to 4-straight Penn champion Holmwood Tech JAM 8:50.02.

Lap 1, New Rochelle NY brings the pack through in 72 seconds, with 3-time defending champion Holmwood Tech JAM (red over gold) and Boys & Girls NY (red and black) right there.
End of first leg, after taking lead on the backstretch, Holmwood Tech leads
Start of fourth lap- New Rochelle led again and William Penn (aqua blue) moved up to challenge, but Holmwood and Boys and Girls were always right on their heels.
Halfway in 4:36, Holmwood Tech is back on top, followed by Edwin Allen, Boys & Girls, and Willliam Penn.
Holmwood handed off a big lead to its anchor runner, Karen Gayle, who protected it with a 2:09.9 split.
 

Boys & Girls anchor Stacy Ann Livingston moved into second ahead of
Edwin Allen JAM, but could not close the gap despite a great split of 2:08.4.
