Allen Bader leads US#2 LaSalle Cincinnati

In Division I boys Cincinnati LaSalle easily defeated rival Cincinnati
St.Xavier 51-120. LaSalle placed 5 in the top 25 and 4 in front of St.X's
#1 man. St.Xavier ran well but was never able to seriously challenge
LaSalle.

Alan Bader of LaSalle ran to victory in 15:33.7. Runner-up Brent DesRoches
from Clayton Northmont was expected to challenge Bader but Bader was alone
before he hit the mile marker and cruised to his second consecutive regional
title.

The temperature was around 40 degrees with winds creating a chill factor in
the mid to low 20's. Along with LaSalle and St.Xavier Cincinnat Elder (141)
and Clayton Northmont (165) also advanced their teams to next week's state
meet at Scioto Downs in Columbus.

In Division I girls Cincinnati Turpin unseated Cincinnati Colerain as
regional champion beating the Cardinals for the second straight week by a
score of 50-106. Also qualifying teams to the state meet are Centerville
(121) and Dayton Carroll (151).

A late surge by Turpin sophomore Carolyn Rauen enabled her to overcome
Colerain's Andrea Maas and Carroll's Katie Flaute. Rauen finished the race
in 18:46.0 with Mass at 18:47 and Flautie at 18:50.
