Division One - Division Two
With track season now well behind us, it is time
to look forward, forward towards autumn, a time when the leaves
fall off the trees and all that good stuff. Anyway let's cut to
the chase and talk about cross country.
Now these lists are constructed off of performances from this past
spring and last fall while using a good bit of intuitive knowledge.
There may be people on the lists who may not run in the fall for
whatever reason so after the season gets going the list will be
updated/changed. Enjoy.
DIVISION ONE
People to Watch-
Owen Washburn and Abdulgami Abdi; they should be the two stars this
season, but they probably won't meet until late fall (East MA vs.
West MA, unless they both go to Brown. It will be interesting to
see if Drew Wiechnicki's (if Monument Mountain does not move to
division two) mile speed can create havoc in the lead pack. The
1-2 sophomore-junior punch from Amherst's Ian Marcus and James Dietz
along with upperclassmen Washburn and Matt Lacey will lead their
team to a state championship. However don't rule out St John's Prep,
the defending champs who return with depth. Junior Eric Critzer
from Falmouth may turn some heads after running low 9:40s for the
deuce last spring as a Sophomore (not to mention he ran a 9:54 steeple
chase on his first ever attempt up in Needham).
People to Question:
Todd Glew-perhaps injured during track, the prepster can be a factor.
Zekarious Habtemichael-what happened to him?

1. Owen Washburn - Amherst
2. Abdulgami Abdi - Brockton

DIVISION TWO
People to Watch-
Certainly look for David Burnham to take the place of former teammate
Neal Graves as State Champ. Both Adam Tenerowitz and Eric Burgess
(who has been running road and cross country races long before high
school) to make their respected marks on the trails. This years
team championship will be a showdown between East Bridgewater and
Oliver Ames, but it looks at this point that EB does not have the
man power that OA holds. Mohawk could be up in the running.
People to Question-
Logan Jones, can he put his amazing 800m speed on the course and
run 16:30s? No one and I mean no one will pass this young man on
the home stretch.
