California Cross Country 2001

California All-State #3

Status quo as most runners rest after Mt. SAC;
DyeStat individual rankings as of October 30

by Brett Harvey

Boys - Girls

Boys

A couple of big changes this week but there was a typical letdown in the aftermath of Mt. SAC. Most of the big guns sat this weekend out.

1. Billy Nelson, Taft. Picked up another win, scorching a 15:55 at the Buena Vista Invitational.

2. Yong-Sung Leal, Arroyo San Lorenzo.

3. Kevin Davis, Clovis West.

4. Henry Hagenbuch, Cate School. After some help from some of the dyestat message boarders, I got Henry's real name (it was misspelled on the Mt. SAC site) and was able to look up the impressive stats that the other spelling had not revealed. Henry also came through with a 14:59 equaling of the course record at the Santa Barbara County Championship. I decided given the stats I found (9:12 3200, #3 returner in the West) to move him some spots from last week.

5. Carl Dambkowski, Granada.

6. Brett Gotcher, Aptos.

7. Mike Poe, Etiwanda.

8. Jordan Horn, Alta Loma.

9. Michael Hadden, Woodbridge.

10. Luke Llamas, Canyon. Now the #2 team in the country!

11. Jameson Mora, Canyon. Now the #2 team in the country!

12. Tim Nelson, Liberty Christian.

13. Erick Maldonado, Don Lugo.

14. Ryan Morgan, Canyon. Now the #2 team in the country!

15. (Tie)Abadir Barre, Mt. Carmel.

15. (Tie)Casey Burchill, Buchanan. Lost to Nelson and undheralded Division 2 runner Mario Grijalva of Highland at Buena Vista.

Other Notables:
Mario Grijalva, Highland
Jordan Kinley, Maria Carillo
Gilliat Ghebrey, Logan
Mohammed Trafeh, Duarte
Qozi Mohammed, West Torrance
Hector Figueroa, Corcoran
Mark Batres, Don Bosco Tech
Baby Wagnew, Helix
Jose Marino, Paso Robles
Giovanni Perezchica, McFarland
Dan Lyon, Sultana
Juan Robles, Valencia
Jose Marino, Paso Robles

No changes in the top 15. Some of the top girls were racing despite this being the week after Mt. SAC. They all won their races with ease.

3. Jenna Timinsky, San Dieguito Academy.

4. Caitlin Chock, Granite Bay.

5. Julie Allen, Corona Del Mar.

6. Emily Vince, Peninsula.

7. Shannon Rowbury, Sacred Heart Cathedral.
