Class 4A and 5A meets saw 18 state meet records

4x800m
relay team and Katya Kostetskaya of Jonesboro are entered in next
weekend's Nike Indoor Classic in Maryland.
The Class 1/2/3A Meet was canceled due to a winter storm that hit
Saturday morning. Katya Kostetskaya in Class 5A Girls set two state
records in the 400m and 800m....she seemed to coast in the 400m
and ran only fast enough to win in the 800m. The Russellville Boys
in the distance races were never pushed by anyone and had to run
mostly by themselves.
Class 4A
Crossett won the 4A Girls division over J. A. Fair by 89-75.5 with
a strong showing in the field events (47 points) and sprints (42
points). The Lady Eagles won three events (Shot, 55 hurdles and
4x4) and scored in 10 events. New records set were:
Girls Shot - Shonda Martin, Crossett 39' 10"
55m - Pepper Foster, Monticello 7.44 (prelims)
1600m - Dianne Miller, Siloam Springs 5:44.82
In the Boys division, Hot Springs used a balanced scoring attack
(28 in field events, 42 in sprints and 28 in distances) to take
a 99-63 win over Crossett. The Trojans won four events (TJ, 400m,
200m and 1600m) while scoring in ten. New records set were:
LJ - Marvin Johnson, West Helena Central 22' 2.5"
TJ - Cedric Eason, Hot Springs 44' 9.75"
4x800m - West Helena Central 8:30.53
55m - Kenna Johnson, Monticello 6.55 (prelims)
800m - Calvin Sheara, West Helena Central 2:04.60
Class 5A
The Fayetteville Lady Bulldogs scored in 10 events to take a 79-68
win over the Pine Bluff Fillies. Fayetteville was led by Sydney
Scarborough who scored 36 points in individual events with wins
in the HJ, TJ and 200m and a third in the 55m. New set records were:
TJ - Sydney Scarborough, Fayetteville 34' 2.5"
Shot Put - Rebecca Gosnell, Russellville 41'03"
4x800m - Bryant 9:52.81
55 hurdles - Amber Wooten, Pine Bluff 8.97 (prelims)

3200m - Ashley Williams, Mount St. Mary's 11:30.67
In Boys action, the Russellville Cyclones easily bested the field
with a 120-49 win over Fayetteville by winning six events (PV, 4x800,
1600m, 800m, 3200m and 4x400) and scoring in eleven. Russellville
scored 62 distance points and 40 field event points on way to the
win. New records set were:
4x800m - Russellville 7:58.72
800m - Travis Feltner, Russellville 1:58.17
