Mobile Meet of Champions

Mobile 3/23/01 -- An abundance of state champions and national elite performers are on Meet Director Steven Schoenewald's preliminary list of leading entries for the Meet of Champions (invitational) Division April 7.
Some highlights:
- GA hurdlers Joshua Walker and Dexter Faulk GA, 1st and 7th at NSIC in New York.
- Janice Davis MS, making herself known on the national scene after her strong 3rd in the record setting 200 meters at NSIC New York, will go in the 200 and 400 and will face strong challenges from Christy Fairley MS and Stephanie Smith GA, plus home-state champion Tyeshia Mose AL.
- A GA vs. LA battle of sub-48 second 400 meter runners: John Fortenberry GA, Ashton Collins LA, Ahmad Jasmine LA, and Mike Smith LA.
- Louisiana sprint and long jump champion Shamekia Louis
- Sprinters Skylar Green LA and Ben Kittleson KY
- Lacy Janson FL, the latest 13-foot girl pole vaulter
- Girls high jump features a lofty duel between defending champion Kayla Burks AL and Kelley Bowman KY, #2 and #5 on the DyeStat Elite indoor list and both sporting 5-10 PRs.
- GA miler Joe Thorne, a 4:14.55 third at NIC in MD, finishing ahead of John Jefferson and Nick Schneider.
- AL 2-miler Scott Fuqua, seventh (9:12.39) at NIC.
- Foot Locker cross country finalist Christa Benton FL heads the girls 3200 field which also includes Ali Sauer KY.
