Classic

It started life 2 years ago as the Herbster Classic, inaugurated by North Carolina runner, coach, and businessman Brad Herbster.  Now it is the XCtrack.com Classic, named after the online store and web site of Herbster's running gear business.

A note from Brad Herbster

Last year's meet was the center of a media frenzy as Alan Webb took a pre-announced shot at a sub-4 minute mile.  The high school only field could not offer the pace needed (and that Webb got against men in New York in January 2001), but the meet became a happening with a raucous crowd on hand.

The XCTRACK.com Classic is an all finals, under the lights track and field show. The XCTRACK.com Classic is the way track and field should be - exciting, non-stop action on the track and the field. For years track and field competitions have been long, drawn out events that only leave fans sunburned. Herbster Track and Field believe that track and field is one of the world's most exciting sporting events. This year's XCTRACK.com Classic will focus on delivering national level competition in every track and field event. From the sprints to the field the XCTRACK.com Classic will deliver it all.

Once again the XCTRACK.com Classic will host the Nike Golden Mile. Last years Nike Golden Mile delivered the fastest mile in a all high school field. Look for the nations best to once again make the XCTRACK.com Classic and the Nike Golden Mile a major stop on the track and field calendar.

Athletes this is your chance to shine as you showcase your talents in a finals only format. The XCTRACK.com Classic is three weeks prior to the National Scholastic Championships. This is your chance to improve upon or to obtain qualifying marks for the NSO's without the pressures of team scores or doubling in events.

Since this is an all finals national level competition the XCTRACK.com Classic will implement qualifying marks for the 2001 event. Events run in lanes will be limited to eight competitors, non-lane events and field events will be be limited to ten to twelve competitors.

Athletes, coaches, and fans make plans to join us May 26th, 2001 in Charlotte, NC for the most exciting track and field event in America!

Entry information and qualifying standards will be posted on www.xctrack.com
