The Klim Poll 11/7by Jake Klim Thanks for everyone who has sent me input and results regarding these rankings. Please keep sending me results and criticism if you have it. I am basing this pole off of large meet performances; everyone knows that #20 may beat #14 then lose to #16 but we have to realize what we think may happen when all three and then some meet on a course that neither has ever run before. This pole is as accurate as what I think the outcome of a race may be when the top 20 race at the same time on the same course. For in the sport of cross country, again as everyone knows, courses are different, runners have bad/good days and weather conditions are pending. Another thing that one must remember is that invitationals are more important than duel meets. In a duel meet for example Joe Jerk may beat Chris Chump by 20 seconds but in an invitational, a meet that "counts" in big team score, Chump may beat Jerk by 10 seconds and gain a higher ranking. Commentary Every week the Prep looks even stronger and stronger. A few weeks ago they ran a team at Brown against Nationally ranked Christian Brothers Academy of Jersey and Bishop Hendrickson of RI and placed 3rd. The same day they ran a "B" team at CMI and placed 3rd behind 2 powerhouse schools from NH. This past weekend they won the Sophomore race at State Coaches even though at coaches "scores" are not kept, talk about depth. Lots of action at Franklin Park with Andover's Tim Galebach cruising to the front of the list. Jeff Bartoloni from NQ also ran extremely well, just getting edged out by Pat Morasse of Lowell for 2nd place. Bartoloni was at the top of the competition last year but has not shown too much strength until this past weekend. We are starting to see how Abdi Abdulgami will fare against heavier competition but he is still right in the heat of things for this up coming weekend. Division 2Division Two Individuals 1. Commentary The Division 2 section at State Coaches fared very well on Saturday running a slew of impressive times led by Matt Pimentol's 15:48. Jeff Engbers from WC dipped under the 16:00 barrier as well, a great feat to tell your grandchildren about. A trio of runners followed him from the Hockomock League: Adam Paicos, Bill Stanley and Matt Pieroway. Meanwhile out west Bryan Dragon was tearing up the course at the Berkshire County Coaches Invitational running just over 16:00 for the 5k race, he was followed by Drew Wiechnicki from the Mountain. Could division 2 be more powerful than division 1 this year? Good Luck at the Class Meet - Jake Klim ([email protected])
