Cross Country Championship
The Virginia Independent Schools Cross Country Championship was held at Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Virginia on November 3rd. Over 35 private schools and more than 600 athletes competed on this pleasant, 70 degree day. Three schools from Alexandria participated in this meet. On the girls side, Bishop Ireton was sixth out of 23 teams, while Episcopal finished 10th and St. Stephen's-St. Agnes was 17th. Jessica Wolfe of Bishop Ireton was the top finishing northern Virginia runner, coming in fourth place with a time of 20:12. Claire Conron of Bishop Ireton was 14th, while Pomercy of Episcopal finished 26th. Wolfe and Conron were named to the All-State Virginia Independent Schools team.
Alexandria boys teams which finished in the top 10 were Episcopal (3rd) and Bishop Ireton (9th). Individually, Jonathan Lee of Episcopal (6th) and Nick Mazzenga of Bishop Ireton (20th) were ll named to the All-State Virginia Independent Schools team.
