The Wakefield boys team and the Yorktown girls team each put on dominating performances in successfully defending their National District team titles while Robinson swept both the boys and girls team titles in the always tough Patriot District Championships

The Wakefield boys swept the top four individual places in scoring just 20 points for the victory led by winner Abdi Dubed, who covered the 2.98 mile course in 15 minutes and 49 seconds. The Warriors also got their best race of the season from junior Javier Rios in second place at 15:56 followed by sophomore Peter Quinzio in third at 16:04 with Abdikadir Abi fourth (16:11).

The Yorktown girls almost matched the Wakefield boys team score on their side as they cruised to victory with 24 points. The Patriots swept the top three spots individually with freshman Meggy McGaffigan edging fellow freshmen Katie Read at the line with McGaffigan timed at 19:08 and Read at 19:09. Yorktown's Anna Rosen took the third spot at 19:19 with Stuart sophomore Pam Davis placing fourth at 19:55 and pacing the Raiders to second place with 65 points. In Patriot District action, Robinson survived a scare from Lake Braddock on both the boys and girls side. The Rams scored 42 points to successfully defend their title on the boys side with the Bruins a close second at 46 points while the Robinson girls won with 39 points to Lake Braddock's runnerup total of 48. L.A. Snead of Robinson grabbed an early lead and won the boys individual title for the second year in a row with his winning time of 15:19 this year two seconds better than last year's performance. Lake Braddock took the next two spots with Dave Vitto the runnerup at 15:31 and teammate Jimmy Judge was third at 15:36. West Springfield's James Feeney took fourth at 15:38 to lead the Spartans to third place with 60 points. On the girls side, Kelly Swain of Lake Braddock followed in her sister's footsteps as she won the girls individual title in 18:14 after her graduated sister Erin Swain had taken the 1999 crown. The Bruins were strong at the front with Heather McCarthy (2nd; 18:36) and Cheryl Carr (3rd; 18:45), leading a sweep of the top three spots for Lake Braddock. Robinson was not to be denied however, as they took seven of the next thirteen spots paced by Joanna Rodgers' fourth place finish at 18:48. The Rams were impressive in having just a 31 second split between their first and fifth scoring runners and just a 45 second spread among their entire top seven. Robinson coach Jeremy Workman said, "I figured it was going to be a close, tough battle going in on both sides. I was a little more worried on the girls side because of Lake Braddock's push up front. On the boys side, we ended up where we needed to be at the finish, but were not in the positions we needed to be in during the middle of the race with a couple of our runners".
