Mt. SAC Invitational

Poop Out Hill

Mt. SAC is famed as a difficult course, and the biggest test of character is Poop Out Hill, coming late in the second mile.  After the race starts on the old concrete air strip, the runners have a fairly easy mile on dirt flats.  Then they climb a sharp hill and traverse the side hill "switchbacks".  Coming down a concrete road, they cross the old air strip again and reach Poop Out Hill just when they are tired enough to hate it.  It is a very sharp incline for about 100 meters with a rutted dirt path.  It has to be navigated before looping around and climbing the more gentle slopes of Reservoir Hill.   At the crest of Reservoir Hill, you are a half mile from home.  Some runners accelerate down the long slope and cover the last half mile in very swift time.

Here are some of the runners on Poop Out Hill in the 2000 Mt. SAC Invitational.
