Lots of shifting this week in the top 20 poll, especially through spots 10-20.

New Jersey had a great showing at the Manahattan Invitational with wins by both Cherokee (in dominating fashion) and CBA. Old Bridge showed why they are the #3 team in the state by packing together a strong top 5. Eastern, led by Mike Myers in 12:55, used it's solid first and second man punch to finish 2nd in their Group.

Hunterdon Central also showed off their team at the invite with a spread of 45 seconds between their 1st and 5th man. Mt.Olive looked solid, especially Pat Slattery who finished 3rd in his group. The biggest surprise had to have been Middletown South, who stepped it up a notch for the big meet with a solid performance from their 1-4 runners. If their 5th man comes together they could become a problem for some teams come the State Group meet.

Other teams did not fair so well.

Don Bosco Prep scored over 200 points. Don Bosco's top 5 did not act as a cohesive unit; as they were spread out all over the field.

Mahanttan was not the only meet this weekend to affect the polls.

South Jersey held its annual South Jersey Open as well this past weekend. This year, as compared to other years, attendance was poor. The better teams like Cherokee and Eastern opted to go to Van Cortland Park to race against some of the best competition in the Northeast.

Shawnee falls off the poll with a dismal performance at the SJ Open where they finished 4th in the divison three race. What makes the finish all the more disappointing is that their lead runner, Adam Ambros, won the race in 16:03.

Toms River North put on a clinic at the Open. There top 4 runners finished between 16:27 and 16:55 while their 5th man finished in 17:17.

Highland moves onto the poll this week after finishing a distant 2nd to Toms River North in the Divison 3 race, yet defeating Toms River South, the #19 team on last weeks poll.

The team to watch: Cranford

Cranford is a team that is underrated but has the ability to be one of the top teams in the state. Some of this potential was displayed at the Shore Coaches Invite. They won their Division but more importantly they split between 17:21 and 17:34 for their top 5. A 13 second spread like that is amazing. Although Toms River North moved ahead of them this week, watch for Cranford at the state group meet; these guys could be trouble!
