October 8, 2000

Rankings courtesy of Marc Bloom, Editor, The Harrier.  For complete rankings and much more cross country news, subscribe to The Harrier.

2 Number Ones!
Rockford, Saratoga girls share top spot
Mountain View UT takes over boys #1

Notes by John Dye on the new rankings:

Boys US
Mountain View UT and Long Beach Poly CA move up to 1-2 based on the Great American Cross Country Festival results, with former #1 The Woodlands TX dropping to 6th. Formerly unranked North Mecklenburg NC moved into 4th after its 3rd place showing in Charlotte.

Girls US
The big news is a tie for Number One between former Number One Rockford MI and Saratoga Springs NY. Saratoga won the GAXC against 6 other top 10 teams, while Rockford stayed home due to Michigan association's 300-mile travel restriction.

Boys Regions
Northeast shuffled thoroughly, with former #1 Danbury CT replaced by Cherokee NJ.

Girls Regions
South: Kingwood TX and The Woodlands TX move ahead of former leader Marcus TX.
West: San Lorenzo Valley CA slips to 4th as Alejandra Barrientos rounds into shape; Campbell County WY is new #1.
