course conditions: fairly sandy, 3.1 miles

The boys varsity was highlighted by a dominating performance by the Gallup NM Bengals. The 8th (Harrier magazine) ranked Gallup team had two individuals in the top 4 (2nd and 4th) and 3 in the top 10 to score 60 points. They easily defeated the 13th ranked Albuquerque Academy Chargers who were second with 107 total points. Third through 5th in the in the team standings were Los Alamos NM (175 points) , Pojoaque NM (180 points) , and Durango CO (203 points) respectively. 36 total teams from New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona competed. The boys individual race was won in 17:08 by Brad Skidmore of Los Alamos NM. He pulled away from CR Davis of Gallup (17:15) in the last mile of the course. He now has won his past 6 races with the only defeat being to Davis the first week of the season.

The girls team competition was won by Gallup NM (12th ranked) as well. Their margin was a narrow 10 points over Los Alamos NM (81 - 91). Other teams in the top 5 were Moriarty NM (130 points), Pojoaque NM (180 points) and Durango CO (190 points) Notably absent from the competition was All-American Felicia Guliford of Gallup. Felicia is still hampered by a hip injury but should be back prior to the state championships and FootLocker Regionals. Winning the girls individual competition by pulling away from Erin Lewis of Grants NM at the half way point was Jackie Gallegos of Pojoaque (20:14). Her win streak dates back to last year where she was AAA state champion. Gallegos and Lewis finished far ahead of third place finisher Durango's Emily Roser who ran 21:14.
